Who am i?

Yusen Long

Since October 2024, I'm a postdoc fellow at LAMA, Université Paris-Est Créteil. My mentor is Federica Fanoni.

September 2024, I obtained my PhD at IMO, Université Paris-Saclay under the supervision of Bruno Duchesne with a thesis on hyperbolic geometry and group dynamics.

Before that, I wrote my master memoire at EPFL with Maryna Viazovska on the sphere packing problem.

Much earlier, I finished my bachelor education at School of Mathematics and Statistics, Wuhan University.

Maths I do

A geometry is a space with a group action.

My research interests lie in various topics about geometry, topology and their interplay with group theory. I'm currently interested in the theory of Polish groups and its application in geometric topology, such as the mapping class groups of infinite-type surfaces or homeomorphism group of compact surfaces. I try to understand their topological dynamics as well as their analytic properties. Moreover, part of my research also concerns the geometry in infinite dimensional hyperbolic spaces.

Here below you can have a look at what I have done in my PhD thesis.
